Music news

We have reached the semi-final of X Factor 2024, airing this evening, Thursday 28 November.

The six artists remaining in the competition will compete to win a place in the highly anticipated final on December 5th, which this year will take place in the suggestive Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples with a super guest Robbie Williams.

Like every week, there will be no shortage of our comments and performance reports

THE HEATS

The first finalists are I PATAGARRI.
At the end of the second round, the eliminated competitor who obtained the fewest votes is PUNKCAKE.
Mimì and Francamente go to the runoff.

REPORT CARDS

Lorenzo Salvetti – “This little big love” (Claudio Baglioni) – RATING 7.00 – Well, “Baglioni, him on the piano, and 'Piccolo grande amore': a combination that fully represents his comfort zone. It is the terrain where he moves naturally, with that unique ability to make every note familiar and every word imbued with nostalgia.

Frankly – “The Last Kiss” (Carmen Consoli) – RATING 7.15 – Frankly and Carmen Consoli share several similarities, both in the intensity of the interpretations and in certain stylistic choices. However, while Consoli often manages to strike more directly on an emotional level, Frankly stands out for a more theatrical approach, which adds a scenic and dramatic dimension to her expressiveness.

PUNKCAKE -“Gift Horse” (IDLES) – RATING 7.00 – A rocking piece, perfect for their style. Noisy, rough, disjointed, essential: they remain faithful to their identity. Their punk wall of sound is intact, compact, and hits with the force of a punch in the stomach. A direct charge, without frills, which confirms their expressive power.

Les Votives – “Crazy” (Gnarls Barkley) – RATING 7.25 – In some ways they remind me of Placebo, perhaps for the attitude or for certain sonic nuances. Their rock reinterpretation of a soul classic by Gnarls Barkley is definitely interesting: intense, direct and deliberately rough. Centered!

Mimì – “You broke my heart” (Mina) – RATING 7.25 – With a voice like that, he could sing anything. Confronting an icon like Mina, a true sacred monster of Italian music, is never easy. Yet, she managed to pay homage to her with elegance, avoiding overdoing it or, on the contrary, trivializing such a rich and complex sensitivity.

PUNKCAKE – “My Way” (Frank Sinatra) – RATING 6.75 – The idea of bringing punk to an orchestral stage is certainly not new: many have tried in the past, with mixed results. However, they managed to make it work to great effect, finding a credible balance between the rough energy of punk and the sonic complexity of the orchestra.

Lorenzo Salvetti – “Caruso” (Lucio Dalla) – RATING 6.75 – A song perhaps too impactful. However, he is always good, precise and intense.

Frankly – “For Elisa” (Alice) – RATING 7.00 – His voice and timbre are always very particular. Impact, power and essence.

Les Votives – “At least you in the universe” (Mia Martini) – RATING 6.75 – I was afraid. Instead they managed to take her home. Not bad despite the choice being super complex and arduous.

Mimì – “Strange Fruit” (Billie Holiday) – RATING 7.75 – Mimì with the orchestra becomes a rare gem. An impeccable, perfect, deep voice that blends naturally with the strings. Thrilling!

I PATAGARRI – “Can't Help Falling In Love” (Elvis) –- RATING 7.00 – Elegant, smoky, refined, jazzy, lounge. The Pataggarri-style continues to enchant… will they succeed in their endeavor to turn the Xf Arena into a jazz club?
