The way in which the tireless Willie Nelson created the Outlaw movement in the country is analyzed in the documentary of Ken Burns, Country Musica box of 4 DVDs distributed by Arte Editions
Inexhaustible. We met Willie Nelson, irreducible Outlaw of the country, while he was in His tour bus, the Honeysuckle Rose, parked in Laughlin, in Nevada, one more stop in his furious Fou touring schedule: two weeks in concert, two weeks of rest. “I still like it, he said. These are the two weeks of rest are a bit long. ” In short, an outlaw life; Truth interview.
Your single “Still Not Dead” (“still not dead”) is hilarious. What inspired it to you?
Willie Nelson: Years ago, when I wrote “On the Road Again”, I heard for the first time that I was dead. Someone said: “Willie sang 'on the road again' and he was overthrown by a bus.” It was fun for some time. Then I heard what you call “Alternative facts” : For the past two years, two or three times, when I got up, I learned that I had died. I just wanted to let them know that it was a big pile of bullshit.

You filmed with Bob Dylan. How do you hang around together?
Willie Nelson: I don't think it has often happened. We make more music together than we speak, and it's probably a good thing. In 2004, my son Lukas and Dylan were really well; He joined him on stage to play the guitar with him, they jammed a lot on these tours. It was nice.
What is your favorite artist on stage?
Willie Nelson: Leon Russell was one of the biggest shows that ever existed. The first time I saw him, he played around 40,000 people in the New Mexico. I had never seen someone throw their hat in the audience until then. This is where I stole the idea.
Jeff Sessions, the former United States Attorney General under the Trump administration, said the grass is “Only slightly less terrible” that heroin …
Willie Nelson: I wonder if he tried both. I don't think we can make such a statement without having tried everything. So, I would like to suggest to Jeff to try and then let me know if he always thinks the truth!
What is your feeling about Donald Trump's presidency so far?
Willie Nelson: Well, I have known Trump for a long time, when he had casinos, and I worked for him. He always paid me, I never had any problems. I think he has set foot in a completely different world. He also said it recently: “I didn't think this job would be so difficult.” It's easy, when you have the opportunity to declare yourself bankrupt when you mean, to say: “I'll make you a check later.” But it is more difficult when you are president of the United States.
You have sold “Willie Nelson for President” stickers. Do many people push you to introduce yourself?
Oh yes! Which makes me even happier not to have done it! I almost went there twice. And then I designed.
Trump did not make you want to intervene?
I think we can do more with music than with debates and politics. I believe that a song touches people more than anything else. It is not for nothing that we call it “harmony” : When you give a concert, there is an unimaginable energy exchange with people. This is the reason why I perform in public. I also withdraw something.

What rules have you imposed on your children?
My wife has one, who breaks down into three principles: “Don't be a bastard, do not be a bastard, and are not a fucking bastard.” Mine has always been: “Do not seek shit, and you will not find yourself in shit.”
You have been married to Annie for twenty-five years. What did you learn about marriage?
This is a bit of what Donald Trump said about being president: there is nothing easy in there. Every day is a hard work. It's not for everyone. I was married several times.
And what did you learn about golf against life?
Absolutely that slab! Someone told me one day: “You spoil a nice walk by playing golf.” But I love playing it. I went there the other day with my sons, I was happy.
Do you always do the exercise daily?
Yeah, I ride a horse, I swim or I run. Swearing is also a good exercise – I do that, too.
What is your favorite juron?
I tell everyone that when I am president, “Fuck it” will be written in one word.
You have launched your own marijuana operating company, Willie's Reserve. How does it work?
It works well! I have people who take care more or less for me. Annie takes care of the edible side – she is a large cook. She works with -colorado and with all the places where it is legal.
Is there a disadvantage of smoking grass every day?
I haven't found it yet. I suppose that when you go somewhere where it is illegal, it is rather a drawback.
