The celebrations at David Bowie for the commemoration of their 77th birthday, they don’t stop! And one of the most beloved bands of the time, wilcohas shared his version of the emblematic song “Space Oddity”denoting his admiration for the artist.

It was through a statement where the alternative rock group commented that there is always an effort to cultivate their talent and achieve their creative freedom, being a goal that they believe all artists should seek, since:

As a grateful, if not grudging, Earth band, it is always an honor and a challenge to tackle any of the space travel arrangements of David Bowie.”

Ending with an affectionate thank you to Mountain Stage (a music radio show) for “allowing this song to be given another home on Earth.”

The version of “Space Oddity” made by wilco remains faithful to the original version of bowiealthough the unique voice of Jeff Tweedy, the band’s leader, adds his own magical touch. Therefore, the song is not only a gift for fans of both legends, but also an occasion for new generations to be introduced to this valuable musical gem.

This cover was performed at a 2016 concert at the Brooklyn’s Kings Theater and last year it was officially recorded for the new compilation album Live on Mountain Stage: Outlaws and Outliers, which will be released on April 19. This will include other live performances where songs from John Prine, Jason Isbell, Indigo Girls, Tyler Childers and more; celebrating its 40th anniversary.
