Awards, success, invitation to the Star Academy… At 24, singer Zaho de Sagazan is everywhere. Discover his journey.

His name may not speak to you yet, but his melody, his phrasing and his blond hair will not leave you indifferent. Bringing together more than 673,000 listeners per month on streaming platforms, Zaho de Sagazan is part of this new generation of emerging artists.

His most popular song? “The Symphony of Lightning”, the eponymous title of his album, certified gold last December after reaching the threshold of 50,000 copies sold. Zaho de Sagazan draws her inspiration from electro music, but also from Barbara, Jacques Brel and the composer Michel Legrand whose title “Amour Amour” she loves, composed for “Peau d’Âne” by Jacques Demy with Catherine Deneuve. On Instagram, the young artist claims that this song is her “ favorite in the world “.

Everything to be an artist

Born at the turn of the year 2000, Zaho de Sagazan arrived in the world on December 28, 1999. She is the daughter of the visual artist Olivier de Sagazan and grew up with a mother who was a teacher. She lives with her family in Saint-Nazaire. There, she learned dance intensively and studied at the Aristide Briand high school, an establishment specializing in music. After his baccalaureate, Zaho continued his studies in economics and worked for a year as a care assistant in an EHPAD.

Finally, the artist made a name for herself in music by publishing covers of her on social networks in 2015, like Angèle when she started. Since then, the artist’s notoriety has continued to grow. Today, his dazzling breakthrough is recognized by awards, like the two grand prizes of the Music Moves Europe Talents Awards competition. The ceremony, which took place on January 18 in the Netherlands, designated the young Frenchwoman as the best emerging European artist of 2023. And that’s not all, since the interpreter of “Tell me that you love me” also won the Audience Award. “Zaho de Sagazan is really strong artistically with a unique and personal style – A unique talent! », commented the jury in particular.

The singer will expose her talent to the general public by participating on Saturday January 20 on TF1, on the show Star Academy, on the occasion of the first semi-final of the show to sing with his favorite student: Axel.

Zaho de Sagazan can be found on stage in February and then next fall for several concert dates.
