Who is Parris Goebel, the choreographer of Karol G, Rihanna, Justin Bieber and other superstars

Music news

After the incredible and Karol G’s viral performance at the 2023 Billboard Music Awardsis the choreographer to the stars: Parris Goebel. An outstanding New Zealand choreographer who has been leaving her mark on the dance and entertainment industry since 2009.

Goebel, founder of the popular The Palace Dance Studio, began her artistic career in dance groups such as ReQuest, Sorority, Bubblegum and The Royal Family, achieving the unprecedented feat of winning the World Hip Hop Championship three consecutive times.

As an internationally renowned choreographer, she has collaborated with an extensive list of important artists, including Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber (do you remember their iconic music video for Sorry? Parris was there), Rihanna, Ciara, Little Mix, Janet Jackson, Ciara, Blackpink, Big Bang, 2NE1, CL and Taeyang, among others. Her ability to bring music to life through choreography has led to some of the most memorable and exciting performances on stage.

One of the high points in Goebel’s career was his work on Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show this 2023. In a riveting 13-minute performance, the Barbadian singer shone like never before in her long-awaited return, showcasing her charismatic stage presence through a legendary repertoire of empowering anthems.

Goebel’s choreography allowed his army of ultra-coordinated dancers to give their best in a show that became a milestone in Super Bowl history. It should be noted that this was not the first time Goebel directed the halftime show; she also orchestrated Jennifer Lopez and Shakira’s incredible performance in 2020.

Additionally, Parris has created the choreography for each installment of the iconic Savage x Fenty lingerie show by Rihanna, which has earned her an Emmy Award in 2022 for her outstanding contribution to the third volume of the event. In fact, you might also recognize her name in the closing credits of fashion shows.

Karol G and her show at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards

More recently, Goebel creatively directed Karol G’s performance in the Billboard Music Awards 2023, in the same way she did with Karol’s epic performance at the 2023 VMAs. The collaboration between Goebel and the MedellĂn native not only highlighted her ability to combine music and movement, but also tested the Colombian artist’s versatility. in different fields and performance challenges. At the VMAs, she went in a staggered stage with very uniform choreography, including a moment in which Karol G practically sang while doing a handstand. And at the BBMAs, he was not far behind, as his presentation took place in a pool full of water, incredible!

The performance was so epic (once again) that Karol G dedicated a few words to her choreographer, with whom she seems to have a very good relationship:

“MY PERFORMANCE FOR @billboard @bbmas đź’– singing QLona, Ojos Ferrari and a taste of my mamasita @kaliuchis’ new single “LABIOS MORDIDOS” that comes out on Nov 23!!!! ✨💦🤍 Thank you once again @parrisgoebel Mamiii How crazy to learn and work with you!!! In addition to receiving two Billboard Awards for Latin Artist of the Year and Latin Tour of the Year!!! So many things happening… I feel on a cloud and I feel immensely grateful… all this is a dream!!! 🌠🎇🎆”, the artist wrote on her social networks.

With each performance, Goebel continues to elevate our stars through the art of dance. Will we see other Latin divas opt for the choreographer to direct her presentations? We love!
