Watch Brenda Lee perform “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”

Music news

The single “ Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree ”, recorded in 1958 by Brenda Lee, became number one last week.

Earlier this week, Brenda Lee became the oldest person to earn a new number 1, as ” Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree ” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart 65 years after its original release. The singer celebrated the milestone by performing on NBC’s Christmas at the Opry special, where she performed the Christmas song in style.

Lee released “ Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree » when she was only 13 years old. The 65-year gap between its release and its rise up the charts means that she has surpassed the 25-year gap between the release of ” All I Want for Christmas Is You » by Mariah Carey in 1994 and her rise to the top in 2019.

Lee called the news ” amazing » in a press release, expressing his enthusiasm and thanking UMG for ensuring that the title reached this peak. Lee even recorded a music video for the classic, featuring stars like Tanya Tucker and Trisha Yearwood, as well as a new EP for the holiday season.

I can’t believe that “Rockin’” reached number one 65 years after its release, it’s so specialshe said. Thanks to the UMG/UMe team who worked so hard to celebrate the song’s anniversary this year. But above all, thank you to the fans who continue to listen to it. The song came out when I was a young teenager and knowing that it has resonated with multiple generations and continues to do so is one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. Keep on Rockin’ and Merry Christmas! »

This is Lee’s first number 1 since 1960, when she rose to the top with ” I Want to Be Wanted ” And ” I’m sorry “. During this decade, Lee held the most entries on the Hot 100 than any other female artist, with a total of 46, according to Billboard.
