Music news

Discover “Capricorn” and “Gen-X Cops”, the new tracks from Vampire Weekend, from their upcoming album, entitled Only God Was Above Us.

After announcing the release of their next studio album, the Americans from Vampire Weekend simultaneously revealed two extracts to the public. We thus find the catchy ballad “Capricorn”. Discover its music video, directed by Nick Harwood, via the player below:

At the same time, they released the more danceable “Gen-X Cops”, which has the same title as a 1999 Hong Kong film. Its music video, for its part, was directed by Drew Pearce:

Scheduled for April 5, the album Only God Was Above Us will be the first to be released since Father of the Bride, released in 2019. If the atmosphere of the record is centered on 20th century New York, its recording took place in the four corners of the world, whether New York, Los Angeles, London and Tokyo. Leader Ezra Keonig was in charge of production, accompanied by Ariel Rechtshaid, in office since Modern Vampires of the City (2013).

Finely written and refined over years, this record shows a group that pushes its creative sense to the maximum, by multiplying atmospheres and influences.

If the group has announced a huge American tour from April 8, no French date has yet been communicated. Their last visit to France dates back to 2019, at the Zénith in Paris.
