Tyler, the Creator's new album comes out on Monday

Tyler, The Creator's new album “CHROMAKOPIA” will be released on Monday, October 28th. Tyler decides to release the album on Monday and not Friday, which is usually the day of music releases. This choice isn't too surprising, since Tyler has been arguing for some time that music should be released on weekdays and not on Fridays.

In an interview with Nardwuar last year, the artist explained why he believes releasing an album during the week is better than on the weekend. “I think there's a lot of passive listening on the weekend,” he said. “If you release it during the week… you actually have more time to really listen to everything.”

Until 2015, the global industry standard was to release new music on Tuesdays. It was moved to Friday in an effort to combat piracy due to the rise of the streaming era. The surprise release of Beyoncé's self-titled album in 2013 (which came out on a Friday instead of a Tuesday) played a major role in this shift years later.
