THE CONCLUSIONS

Without an absolute No. 1 above all the others, Mahmood's “Tuta Gold” from Sanremo comes out on top (curiously not even among the songs in the final top 5 of the Festival): the song is the most certified of the year with 5 platinum records and in the top 5 of airplay; Alessandro, back to the glories of a few years ago, completes the lucky year with the summer RA TA TA at the 22nd (and also had the whim of duetting with Ornella Vanoni in “Sant'Allegria”).

It is followed closely by the No. 1 summer hit, “Sesso e Samba”, by the controversial (and contested) Tony Effe with Gaia (4 platinum records for them); confirming the success of this year's duets, we also find in the top 10 the one between Annalisa and Tananai (“Storie brevi” is at number 8), the one between Rose Villain and Gué (“Come un thunder” is at number 9, she also at number 26 with the Sanremo song “Click Boom!” which only earned her 23 at the Festivalto position) and the one between Olly and Angelina Mango (“For two like us” closes the top 10).

The podium is completed by the welcome return (also at the top of the charts) of Cesare Cremonini, with the hit “Ora che non hopiù te”.

Fourth place for the “real baddie” Anna, among the protagonists of this 2024, and fifth for the omnipresent Annalisa with the Sanremo song “Sincerely” (she was also present in the duet with Tedua, “Beatrice”, at 87).

More girl power at 6 with the best-ranked foreign song, “Birds of a Feather”, written by Billie Eilish. Just outside the top 10 is the Colombian Karol G, with the late summer hit “Si antes te hubiera conocido”.

Speaking of Sanremo: other songs in the charts from the Festival are those by Ghali (“Casa mia”, at number 12, who benefited from a real relaunch of his career, also placing “Paprika” – at number 18 – and “Niente” in the top 100 panic” – at 71), the winner Angelina Mango (“La noia” is at 13 and in addition to the aforementioned duet with Olly also places “Melodrama” at 50), Geolier (“I p' me, tu p' te” is at number 14, while the duet with Ultimo in “L'ultima poetry” is at number 33), The Kolors (at number 21 with “A boy, a girl” but also at number 16 with “Karma ”, the most played song on the radio in 2024 – but “only” gold record); more distantly followed by Alfa (at number 48 with “Vai!” but also at number 42 with the recent “Il filo rosso”), Emma (“Apnea” is at number 52 but also at number 64 with “Femme fatale”), the resurrected Ricchi e Poveri (at 53 with “Ma non tutto la vita”) and finally Irama with “Tu no” at 78 (but also at 65 with “Galassie”), Gazzelle with “Tutto qui” at 86, the winner of the Critics' Award Loredana Bertè with “Pazza” (at 90) and Alessandra Amoroso with “Fino a qui” at 95 (but also at 31 with the summer hit “Mezzorotta” together with BigMama). BNKR44 launched from Sanremo with two songs in the charts (but not the Festival song), first with the duet with the late Pino D'Angiò “Ma che idea” (n.45) and “Estate 80” (n.89).

Completing the top 20 are Coma_Cose with the summer hit “Malavita” (n.15), the duet (ariborda) between Lady Gaga (who however flopped with the single “Disease”) and Bruno Mars in “Die With A Smile” (n. 17) and the foreign revelations Benson Boone with “Beautiful Things” (n.19) and Sabrina Carpenter with “Espresso” (n.20).

Confirming the discreet weight that foreign songs are returning to Italy, this year they are 36 out of 100, more than a third (last year they were 28). Among them we highlight the surprise Artemas (the irresistible “I Like The Way You Kiss Me” is at number 24), Beyoncé's return to the chart with “Texas Hold'Em (number 25, more driven by radio than by streams – “only” gold record) and Colplay with “feelslikeimfallinginlove” (n.27, they still without certifications), the revelations Teddy Swims (“Lose Control” is on the 28), Conan Gray (“Lonely Dancers” is at 29) and Chappell Roan (“Good Luck, Babe!” is at 32). Return to the rankings also for Eminem (“Houdini” is at 35) and for Dua Lipa (who scores the treble: “Training Season” at 38, “Illusion” at 56 and “Houdini” at 62). And then a string of new talents: Tate McRae (“Greedy” is at 36), Myles Smith (“Stargazing” is at 37), Mark Ambor (“Belong Together” is at 39), Shaboozey with “A Bar Song (Tipsy )” (n.44), the viral (but not yet certified) “Lil Boo Thang” by Paul Russell (n.47), in addition to the Post Malone certainties (“I Had Some Help” is at 51, further confirmation of how country is particularly back in vogue this year), Shakira with Cardi B (“Punteria” is at 55), Sophie and The Giants (“Shut Up And Dance” is at 61), while two great protagonists of the world music scene such as The Weeknd and Taylor Swift have to settle for secondary positions – respectively 68 for “Dancing In The Flames” and 70 with “Is It Over Now?”.

They sowed the field for their next participation in the Festival Elodie (at 23 with “Black Nirvana” and only at 69 in the trumpeted duet with Tiziano Ferro “Feeling”), Achille Lauro at 30 with “Amoresperado”, Noemi with “Non ho need you” (n.82), Rocco Hunt with “Musica italiana” (n.93) and Bresh with “Torcida” (n.100). Finally, we would like to point out Pinguini Tattici Nucleari who placed the first 2 singles of the new album, “Romantico ma muori” (n.40) and “Islanda (n.49) in the top 50, even if in the past they were used to decidedly more prestigious positions .

Happy 2025 and as always good music to everyone!
