Radiohead's latest album, A Moon Shaped Pool, was released in 2016. The following year, the band released a 20th anniversary reissue of their album OK Computertitled OKNOTOK 1997 2017and in 2021 the band released Kid A Mnesiaan anniversary reissue compiling Kid A, Amnesiac and unreleased tracks. Since then, Yorke has focused on The Smile, which he formed with Greenwood and drummer Tom Skinner.

Recently, bassist Colin Greenwood told NME that Radiohead had held rehearsals over the summer: “ We got together over the summer, just for a few days, and we went through all the songs and picked up where we left off in 2018. It was really fun and nice to see everyone. We had planned to do three or four days, but we changed our minds after two days because it was okay and we could still do it. My brother (Jonny Greenwood) said we would just need two weeks of rehearsal and we could go on tour no problem.
