The Smashing Pumpkins have eight people employed full-time to review applications for the guitar position.
Hoping to join the Smashing Pumpkins as a new guitarist? You are not alone. Apparently, more than 10,000 people applied for the position, following the advert launched by the rock band earlier this month.
In a post on social media, the Smashing Pumpkins confirmed they had received thousands of applications for the position. “ Currently, eight people work full time to examine each of them “, wrote the group.

The group launched a call for applications on January 5: “ The Smashing Pumpkins are looking for an additional guitaristthey wrote on X. The position is being filled because Jeff Schroeder, who played with the band from its reformation in 2006 until 2023, recently left the group. “ The amount of incredible memories created over the last 16 years with the band is almost too great to quantifySchroeder wrote to fans in October. Schroeder’s final performance with the Smashing Pumpkins was on September 17, 2023, when they played Siamese Dream start to finish at Madame ZuZu’s Teahouse in Highland Park, Illinois, to celebrate the album’s 30th anniversary. Their only appearance since that evening was a special Christmas performance of “ Evergreen ” And ” Silver Bells » at Disney World on November 11, 2023.
The band only has a few months to find a new guitarist, as they begin a European tour with Weezer on June 7 in Birmingham, England.
