The MTV EMAs 2024 awards gala will be held again in the United Kingdom

Music news

The MTV EMAs 2024 Awards already have a date! The awards of the popular television network will once again be held in the United Kingdom, after the last edition, scheduled to be held in Paris on November 5, was suspended due to the tense international situation. The reason why it was not carried out was because of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. “As we watch the terrible events unfold in Israel and Gaza, this does not seem like a time to celebrate anything globally. With thousands of lives already lost, it is a time of mourning,” the organization said.

This year, and despite the fact that what is happening in Gaza is still topical, the ceremony will take place on the Co-op Live stage in Manchester. The English city will host the European Music Awards on November 10, as did other cities such as London – on two occasions –, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Liverpool. According to Bruce Gillmer, president of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events, Paramount, and Chief Content Officer, and Paramount+, “The MTV EMAs are one of the biggest global music celebrations, bringing together local and international artists to create iconic performances for fans around the world. With music at the very heart of Manchester’s rich creative heritage, this vibrant city will ensure a top show in 2024”.

For his part, MTV International Markets Advertising Sales President Lee Sears said: “Manchester is a dynamic and innovative city with the infrastructure necessary to organize a live music event of the magnitude of the MTV EMAs. We can’t wait to give to discover this world-class destination – and the cutting-edge Co-op Live stage – on the global stage.

And, after knowing this year’s venues and the date, all that remains is to start cheering on the possible nominations for the different categories. In 2023, Taylor Swift swept home 9 awards (between artistic and technical), and Samantha Hudson He was the one who finally won Best Spanish Artist, competing at that time with Abraham Mateo, Lola Índigo, Álvaro de Luna and Quevedo.

The gala can be followed through MTV in more than 150 countries, as well as will be available on Pluto TV.
