Music news

A new stage for The Marías begins with the announcement of their next album, Submarine.

The Marias emerged on the international music scene as a notable act since the releases of their first EPs. Her rising popularity established her as one of the most iconic bedroom pop and dream pop acts of this decade. The group will begin a new era in their musical career with their next studio album, which will be titled, Submarine.

Since last year, the new sound proposal of The Marias was taking shape through collaborations with Tainy and Young Miko in it track “Tomorrow” and with Cuckoo in “If I go”. These sounds were reflected in the creative process of Submarine which will explore a more nostalgic perspective by representing feelings of loss and grief; The album is partly inspired by the film Three Colors: Blue from the director Krzysztof Kieślowski.

Submarine It is an album that represents loneliness and exploration…We composed it in the midst of heartbreak, with my mind spiraling at every turn and my vision blurring. No one noticed, but there were moments in the writing process when I felt like my mind was underwater, and I couldn’t hear anything except the echo of my own thoughts. “I have managed to get out of that side and that mental state with more clarity than ever before, and also with the project that I have been most proud of in my life,” she comments. The Marias about Submarine.

The lead single from the album, “run your mouth”is a song that The Marias He had previously premiered in his live concerts. He track addresses the feeling of emotional avoidance that demands a more direct form of expression; about wanting to hide while wanting to be heard. The sound of “run your mouth” is closer to dance rhythms than The Marias has done before, but what we can expect from the rest of Submarine It will be much more leisurely, melancholic and introspective.

Here we share the premiere of the new video that The Marias has made for his single “run your mouth”, where the group enters a liminal space of blue coloration and serves as the perfect accompaniment to create excitement about their next album. Submarine It will be available on May 31st through Atlantic Records.
