The listening event for the new album by Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign will not take place
The event scheduled for November 3rd to present the new album by Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign will not take place and the two artists will not release any albums this week.
On October 23rd, Ty Dolla $ign announced to fans that a multi-stadium event would be held on November 3rd to showcase his new album in collaboration with Yebut two days before the event there was no further news.
This isn’t the first time an event related to this album has been postponed. Rumors leaked last month that the album would be released on October 13, but Ye’s team put those rumors to rest by stating that the rapper had not yet secured a distribution deal for the album. Then the event that was supposed to be held at the RCF Arena in Reggio Emilia also fell through. And now also the one on November 3rd.
Perhaps Ye and Ty decided to postpone so as not to compete with Cvlt by Salmo and Noyz, which will be released on November 3rd… jokes aside, it can be said that in this case too the communication was not vague, more so.
Aside from Ty Dolla $ign’s announcement, no venues have been announced within a day of the date and no tickets have been made available for purchase.
As Billboard reported, hosting a stadium event with Ye would require weeks of planning with local officials, the purchase of expensive insurance policies and extensive communication with fans. Aside from the quick timing and other variables, also complicating matters is the fact that many of the top-tier stadiums are used by professional and college football this time of year. In Europe, for example, it is football season and it is difficult to find a free stadium that would not host an event of this magnitude, which could also cause damage to the turf.
Even financially, the event booking and staffing costs associated with using multiple stadiums at once would exceed $5 million, and unless Kanye wants to pay for it all out of his own pocket, he needs a financier to finance and promote the event.
Simply put he needs an agent, but it appears that Ye has failed to hire a major agent since he was dropped by CAA a year ago amidst his anti-Semitic statements.
The lack of an agent and a distributor for the album, in addition to the objective difficulties of finding free stadiums at the same time in Europe and the USA, could be the reasons for the cancellation of the event scheduled for November 3rd.
