THE DIVINE COMEDY and DEACON BLUE in concert at 11Lune in Peccioli (Info & Tickets)

Music news

The first artists in the calendar of 11Lune a Peccioli have been presented, the festival which takes place at the Fonte Mazzola Amphitheater in the small town in the province of Pisa.

After last year’s Glen Hansard concert, this year there will be two concerts, in two days with guests of international caliber: The Divine Comedy on Friday 12 July and Deacon Blue on Saturday 13 July.

Divine Comedy is the band name of Neil Hannon, an admired and creative Northern Irish musician and songwriter, who made headlines three months ago for having written the songs for the film Wonka: but with Divine Comedy he had great successes especially in nineties, with songs rather unique for the originality and humor of the lyrics and for the spectacular orchestral arrangements (in Peccioli there will also be a string quartet), and he has built a following which in the past years has often taken him on tour even in Italy.

Deacon Blue are remembered and loved for their first album, Raintown, which was one of the most admired records of British music in the 1980s. They are Scottish from Glasgow and led by the couple Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh: in the last ten years they have started making records appreciated in the United Kingdom and very crowded tours which culminate in the Glasgow date, which every year fills a large 14 thousand seat theatre. They have just concluded part of their tour in Australia, but they haven’t been to Italy since 1991.
