The British band releases its first single in 16 years, paving the way for its new album.
The Curethe iconic British rock band formed in 1976, surprises again with the premiere of “Alone”his first single in 16 years. This song, which is now available, marks the beginning of a new era for the band led by Robert Smithand it is the first sample of what will be their next album Songs of a Lost Worldscheduled to come out November 1 via Universal.
“Alone” presents the unmistakable style of The Curewith its characteristic gothic sound and melancholic lyrics. In this track, Robert Smith sings: “This is the end of every song we sing / The fire burned to ashes, the stars darkened with tears”. Accompanied by slow drums and a dark drone, the band maintains its essence while exploring new feelings of hopelessness and reflection.
I had been struggling to find the right line for the opening song, working with the simple idea of 'being alone'. “As soon as we finished recording I remembered the poem 'Dregs' by English poet Ernest Dowson… and that was the moment I knew the song – and the album – were real,” Robert Smith said in a press release.

Songs of a Lost World will be released as an LP, a Miles Showell Abbey Road mid-speed 2LP Master, a marble-colored 1LP, double cassetteCD, a deluxe CD package with a Blu-ray featuring an instrumental version of the record and a Dolby Atmos mix of the album, and digital formats.
