The legendary American duo The Black Keys unveils their cover of a soul standard entitled “I Forgot To Be Your Lover”.
The Black Keys pay homage to the William Bell and Booker T. Jones standard, entitled “I Forgot To Be Your Lover”. A title that comes out “just in time for Valentine’s Day” declares the duo on their networks. Discover it via the lyric video available via the player below:
This cover is a new extract fromOhio Players, the duo’s next album, which will be released on April 5. Its title is inspired by the funk group of the same name. It includes participations from Greg Kurstin, Noel Gallagher, Beck and Dan “The Automator” Nakamura. There is also another extract, entitled “Beautiful People (Stay High)”. Ohio Players is available for pre-order.
This record arrives less than two years later Dropout Boogie, a record that is both spontaneous and careful, marked by the presence of the singles “Wild Child“, and “It Ain’t Over“. In the meantime, the duo released a single entitled “No Lovin”, present on the compilation Tell Everybody!. The latter brings together The Black Keys with several groups signed to Easy Eye Sound, Dan Auerbach’s label. We find among them Robert Finley and Nat Myers.
If the duo had passed through France after the release of Dropout Boogienotably at the Zénith in Paris and the Nîmes Festival, they have not yet announced any dates in Europe.
The Ohio Players tracklist has not yet been revealed. Nonetheless, the band shared the cover art.
