St. Pedro: “I was never an urban artist, I was experimenting”

Music news

Now, yes. St. Pedro’s first studio album is already out. This life that I chose is an authentic sonic journey, a journey to the past that travels through the childhood of the Canarian through boleros, merengues and bachatas. Songs that remind him of his childhood and with which he feels totally identified.

St. Pedro returned to his native Tenerife to compose this album. He did it unassumingly, simply meeting his friends in the studio. After spending some time in Miami, the artist realized that what he really needed was to return to his roots to connect with music. And how he has achieved it!

St. Pedro has come to the WECB studios to tell us all the secrets about this first album. A work where genres coexist in perfect harmony. “I surrounded myself with my friends again, which is something very important. I feel that to get here I had to go through living in Miami and being an urban artist to get here,” the singer said.

“I was never an urban artist, I was trying, getting to know myself and learning. I was able to work with super great producers and I learned a lot from their way of working, but I never managed to connect with the genres or what was being talked about. I appreciate it. a lot and I respect it.” said the artist.

St. Pedro confesses to us that to reconnect with music he wanted to go back. A way of looking for sounds that people of his generation can identify with: “It’s what sounded like in the happiest moments of childhood, when everything was going well.”

About Benidorm Fest

St. Pedro has also taken stock of his time at the Benidorm Fest, where he was one of the favorites thanks to Two Strangers. “I didn’t get into the Benidorm Fest to look for a promo, I got in because I wanted to go if people wanted to. With all the love that the Eurofans gave me, I would have gone to death with what I had to represent Spain. They wanted something else and I go to death with them (Nebulossa)”.

“If you go thinking that you are going to deceive people and you are going to get promotion and visibility from Benidorm Fest, for me, as I was raised, I would feel very bad. I would literally feel that I am deceiving people,” he ended by saying.

St. Pedro also took the opportunity to send a beautiful message to Nebulossa, the group that will represent Spain with Zorra in Malmö.
