SPOTIFY the year-end rankings. TAYLOR SWIFT global and SFERA EBBASTA in Italy

Spotify launches Wrapped 2023 and reveals the artists, albums, songs, playlists and podcasts that characterized this 2023.

Here are the full Spotify Wrapped 2023 results globally and in Italy.

MUSIC (GLOBAL)

The artists

Taylor Swift is the most listened to artist of 2023 on Spotify, with over 25 billion plays, a result that confirms the enormous success of the singer-songwriter and “queen of pop”. Along with West Reading native Bad Bunny in second place, The Weeknd in third, Drake and Peso Pluma round out the top 5.

Among the artists, however, together with Taylor Swift, there are SZA and KAROL G in the charts, followed by Lana Del Rey and Rihanna.

The songs and albums

Leading the world ranking of songs with the highest number of plays is “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus (over 1 billion). In second and third place: “Kill Bill” by SZA and “As It Was” by Harry Styles. “Seven (feat. Latto) (Explicit Ver.)” by Jung Kook and “Ella Baila Sola” by Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma complete the top five.

“Un Verano Sin Ti” by Bad Bunny is, however, the most listened to album of 2023 on Spotify, followed by “Midnights” by Taylor Swift and “SOS” by SZA. Fourth and fifth place go respectively to “Star boy” by The Weeknd and “MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO” by KAROL G.

MUSIC (ITALY)

The artists

In Italy, for the third consecutive year, Sfera Ebbasta is the most listened to artist, followed by Geolier and Lazza, in second and third position. In fourth and fifth, however, we find Shiva and Guè. A ranking that confirms the strong passion of Italians for the local music scene, with a Top10 of the most listened to artists in Italy in 2023 made up 100% of Italian artists.

The most listened to female artist in Italy is ANNA, who is also one of the faces of EQUAL, Spotify’s global program that promotes gender equality and celebrates the contribution of women in the world of audio.

As regards the most listened to Italian artists abroad, this year too Måneskin are confirmed as the most listened to Italian artists abroad, followed by MEDUZA and Ludovico Einaudi. Also in the top 10 is Laura Pausini (sixth), who thus confirms herself as the most listened to Italian female artist on Spotify in the world.

The songs and albums

The disruptive impact of Sanremo is confirmed for the second year in a row, with three songs in the Top 10, including “CENERE” by Lazza which is the most listened to song on Spotify in Italy. In second and third position we find “Gelosa (feat. Shiva, Sfera Ebbasta, Guè)” by Finesse and “VETRI NERI” by AVA, ANNA and Capo Plaza. Closing the top 5 are “COME VUOI” by Geolier and “Quevedo: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52” by Bizarrap and Quevedo.

The top 10 of the most listened to songs in Italy in 2023 is almost monopolized by Italian productions, with a clear predominance by urban and Geolier who, with 3 songs in the Top 10, becomes the most representative exponent of the musical success that the city of Naples lived this year. In fact, listeners of Spotify’s editorial playlist “Napoli Centro” grew by 64% compared to 2022.

Geolier also has the album with the highest number of plays, “IL CORAGGIO DEI CHILDREN”, followed by “SIRIO” by Lazza and “La Divina Commedia” by Tedua. However, in fourth and fifth place respectively are “Milano Demons” by Shiva and “Fake News” by Pinguini Tattici Nucleari.

PODCAST (GLOBAL)

“The Joe Rogan Experience” is once again the most listened to podcast on Spotify globally this year.

This is followed by “Call Her Daddy” by Alex Cooper and “Huberman Lab” by Dr. Andrew Huberman. In fourth and fifth, however, we find “anything goes with emma chamberlain” and “On Purpose with Jay Shetty”.

PODCAST (ITALY)

In Italy, public curiosity towards crime news cases leads the ranking, with “Elisa True Crime” by Elisa De Marco, which is the most listened to podcast, followed by “The Essential” by Mia Ceran and “Muschio Selvaggio” by Fedez . “Investigations” by Stefano Nazzi and “Alessandro Barbero’s podcast: History Lessons and Conferences” close the top 5 ranking.
