Crow had publicly stated that he would not release another album after Threads (2018), so Evolution is a welcome surprise.

Nowadays, in the age of streaming, everything is more oriented towards individual songs, and making an album is a colossal undertaking,” says Crow. “I only started sending a couple of demos to Mike, but the songs kept flowing… it was pretty obvious that this was going to be an album.”

Evolution reveals Sheryl Crow at her most authentically human. “This music, these lyrics were born while writing surrounded by silence, searching in the depths of my soul. I said I would never make another record, I thought there was no point. But this music comes from my soul. And I hope that anyone who listens to this record can feel that.”
