Shakira uses AI to send a message to her past self and they call her “boomer”

Music news

AI (Artificial Intelligence) is here to stay. In all areas. And in the last year we have seen all kinds of images and videos generated with this tool. Although many times they have made us laugh, on other occasions they have made us feel bad. And the fact is that Artificial Intelligence cannot currently control the human emotions it provokes. That's just how it is.

The latest artist to use AI has been Shakira. The Colombian star has surprised her followers by uploading a video on her social media in which she appears in the present day hugging her past self. Literally. A Shakira from 2024 hugs that brunette teenager who released Pies descalzos. The two women (who are actually one) appear interacting with somewhat strange smiles. And this video, generated through AIis made from two physical images, so the gestures that the two Shakiras have are somewhat strange.

Along with the video, Shakira shared a beautiful message: “Many times this girl gave women strength to continue. Today more than ever I embrace her.” Without a doubt, these are words with which the Colombian makes it clear that she has always taken her past into account when creating music. And that Shakira can be very proud of everything she has achieved: being one of the most important artists in the world.

The comments it has generated

Although the text has moved Shakira's followers, many users of X (the social network formerly known as Twitter) have not been able to help but laugh at the montage of the two Shakiras hugging each other. “Someone should pay for the AI's premium account”, “Shakira will soon start posting images of Tweety to say good morning” or “What a cringe of an image” are just some of the comments that can be read.

But there are several that stand out: those who call Shakira a boomer for uploading this type of videos. Spoiler: Shakira is a boomerAnd that's not a bad thing! On the contrary. The Colombian star was born in 1977, so he belongs to this generation. The best thing about it all? That the star has managed to reinvent himself and have hits in each of the decades in which he has worked. If I wasn't a boomer, great songs like I'm Here, Blind Deaf Mute either Luck would never have existed. So, ladies and gentlemen, a little respect for this boomer who has not stopped releasing hits in four different decades.
