Sanremo 2025 – Noemi between “nostalgia” and the importance of emotions

Interviews

Noemi is among the protagonists of the 75th edition of the Sanremo Festival with the song If you fall in love with you, Written by Mahmood, Blanco and Michelangelo.

The piece deals with the theme of love as abandonment and transformation, exploring human fragility in letting the feelings go. The dichotomy between Eros and Thanatos emerges in an evocative text that wonders about the fear and beauty of letting himself be loved.

Q&A

Singing for the first time an unpublished song is a great responsibility. How did you feel on stage?

It is true, it's a nice responsibility, but I felt relieved of an incredible energy. Maybe it was adrenaline, but I warned a very strong energy that gave me a lot of charge. I am happy, also because my new album “Nostalgia” will be released on February 28, a record that I feel very close to this moment of my life.

What is nostalgia for you, a central theme of your new job?

For me, nostalgia is a characteristic trait of my personality. It is not melancholy, which often brings with it a sense of sadness. Nostalgia, on the other hand, is linked to the desire to return to the places where we felt at home, where we recognize ourselves. It is a powerful and precious emotion, a link with our fragility and with the authentic emotions that today we tend to hide behind armor of perfection.

You often talk about fragility. What does it mean for you today?

Fragility is power, it is authenticity. We live in a world that imposes armor on us, it requires us to always be perfect. I learned to remove those armor and to accept my vulnerability. Only in this way can we really experience emotions and connect with others sincerely, without fear of judgment.

During Sanremo, you will also sing with Tony Effe. What struck you as an artist?

Tony has the ability to evolve continuously. He has a unique way to face music and with him there is a beautiful dialogue. We will collaborate on a song by Califano and I am happy because this experience allows me to explore new languages and create a bridge between generations.

On 20 December you will sing at the PalaLottomatica in Rome. What does this date represent for you?

It will be a return to a special house. That building is close to the neighborhood where I grew up. Going back for a concert is like closing a circle, it is exciting and I feel really lucky.

You said this new path led you to rediscover yourself. How?

I worked a lot on me, I removed many armor and I started to experience emotions without filters. Life puts us to the test, he judges us continuously, but I learned that being fragile is not a weakness, on the contrary, it is a strong point. This album speaks of this, of completely accepting itself, even in moments of vulnerability.

What do you spend that the public cultures from this new job?

I hope people can find themselves in my words, in my emotions. I want to share a message of authenticity, of self -acceptance, without filters. And above all, I would like them to rediscover the value of nostalgia as a link with their roots and with the most pure emotions.

The disc

“Nostalgia” is the title of Noemi's new album to be released on February 28, 2025.

With his seventh studio album, Noemi explores new sounds and suggestions. “Nostalgia” presents itself as a project in which the blues, the contemporary songwriter and the electronic influences intertwine, giving life to a heterogeneous mix of intense ballad and traces with a more tight pace.

The guiding thread of the disc is the feeling evoked by the title itself: nostalgia. But instead of taking a melancholy meaning, it becomes a bridge between past and future, a warm and enveloping emotion,
