Lucio Corsi is competing for the first time the stage of the 75th edition of the Sanremo Festival.
The singer -songwriter will bring the song “I wanted to be a tough”, an intense and reflective ballad that addresses themes of acceptance and fragility with its unmistakable style.
Q&A
You said: “I got for my adolescence, I mixed with that of others”. What did you mean?
I like to reinvent situations, finding an exit from those that seem impasse. I took pieces of my adolescence and mixed them with those of others, creating a story that is not only mine but it is also collective.
The video clip, directed by Tommaso Ottomano sees Leonardo Pieraccioni and Massimo Ceccherini's friendly participation. Carletto, the child protagonist of the video, sent to bed without dinner for a bad report card, rebels against the parents' decision by unleashing himself on the notes of the song, with the help of Lucio and his guitar. The bedroom covered with posters and with the ball stereo becomes the kingdom in which the song manifests itself, to protect us from the expectations and pressures of others and to remember “how hard the world is for normal ones”.
What atmosphere are you breathed in the video?
It was fun to turn it, a somewhat crazy experience. We have completely transformed a house to recreate an atmosphere reminiscent of something American. There is this rebellious child and Ciccherini plays a little family's father.
At a certain point, everything explodes in a surreal situation. I don't want to reveal too much, but it's an ironic video with melancholy attractions. There is a romantic nostalgia and a pinch of childhood. Leonardo Pieraccioni and Massimo Ceccherini are like the cat and the fox. I sometimes feel Pinocchio, other times Lucignolo.
You talked about boredom as a creative engine. What did your passion for music turned on?
Everything started out of the need for expression. I have always felt the need to say something, to find my voice. Even when I played for four cats, I never gave up. Costanza is fundamental. I decided to want to be a singer as a child, when my father took me to see Blues Brothers. I was struck. They seemed to me superheroes, with those black suits and that indestructible air. I thought: “I want to live like this, I want to make music.”
You talked about fragility. How much did you affect your music?
Very. Music was a real Aloe for my injuries. He has always helped me to feel better, to find a balance. Even in the most difficult moments, I always went back to music to take refuge. And then, growing in the province, music was a way to feel less alone, to escape.
On the evening of Friday 14 February dedicated to the covers, Lucio Corsi will perform with the song “Nel Blu, painted blue” by Domenico Modugno in duet with Topo Gigio.
Mice can also fly. I am pleased to announce that at the Sanremo Festival in the evening of the covers I will duet with my friend Topo Gigio on the notes (and the currents) of “Nel Blu, painted by Blu” by Domenico Modugno. Topo Gigio taught me how not to become a puppet, he taught me how to cut the threads of those who would like to make you move to him. In addition, Topo Gigio made his debut on television in 1959 with the voice of Modugno, in some way it is as if he met his song again. Flying, in blue, painted blue, is the song of the songs since the element of music is the air. Everyone sang it, from Paul McCartney to Bowie to Troisi in “We just have to cry”. In short, I think that such a dream never returns again. “
