Among them, there will be those who will represent Italy at the next Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Basel.

We will instead discover the 4 Giovani in the Sanremo Giovani final on Wednesday 18 December.

This cast and this result is thanks to the excellent work of the singers, the record companies (major and independent labels) as well as the many authors and producers who I thank” – he comments immediately Carlo Conti.

Also for this edition I received so many songs, many of such quality that I had to make some difficult and in some ways painful choices” – continues the Artistic Director of the Festival.

It is no coincidence that I proposed the change to the regulation to increase the number of Big names in the race”, concludes Conti. As regards voting, a change to the Regulations has also occurred here: foreign radio stations will be included in the Press Room Jury as a “guest” category.

The cast, as announced by Conti, follows the line traced by its predecessor Amadeus but with a more attentive eye to “mature” songwriting (several on paper seem ready to battle it out for the Critics' Award).
There are 4 winners of past editions: Giorgia (among other things, it will be 30 years since the triumph of “Come saprei”), Francesco Gabbani (winner in 2016 in the Giovani and in 2017 in the Big with “Occidentali's Karma”), Massimo Ranieri (he is from 1988 the timeless “Perdere l'amore”), Simone Cristicchi (“I'll give you a rose” in 2006).
Two winners of Sanremo Giovani: Rocco Hunt (2014, “Nu juorno buon”) and Clara (just last year).

In terms of number of participations, Marcella stands out (ninth time, the last in 2007), followed by Massimo Ranieri and Nomi with 8 participations; followed with 6 notches by Giorgia, Simone Cristicchi, Irama; fifth Festival for Fashion, fourth for Achille Lauro (in 6 years), Gabbani and Elodie. Third time for The Kolors, Francesca Michielin and Coma_Cose.

There are 8 making their debut: Brunori Sas, Emis Killa, Bresh, Shablo, Tony Effe, Lucio Corsi, Joan Thiele and the latest winner of Amici, Sarah Toscano.

THE EVENINGS

Moving on to the analysis of the individual evenings, on the first (Tuesday) the competing Champions will perform and the songs will be voted on by the Jury of the Press, TV and Web Room.

During the second evening (Wednesday) 12 Champions will perform, who will be voted by the public – through Televoting – and by the Radio Jury, each with a weight of 50%.

For the New Proposals, 2 artists will face each other in a first semi-final, judged by the public with Televoting, by the Jury of the Press, TV and Web Room and by the Radio Jury, thus determining the first finalist.

The mechanism and development of the third evening (Thursday) are identical, in which the second semi-final will also take place between the other 2 New Proposals, thus identifying the second “young finalist”.

The fourth evening (Friday) will be dedicated to the “Cover”: the competing singers, supported by a guest artist, will re-interpret a published song taken from the Italian and international repertoire.

The covers will be evaluated by all three juries: public televoting, press room jury, TV and web and radio jury. The three voting systems will have a percentage weight of 34, 33 and 33% respectively, giving rise to an independent Evening ranking of the 24 Artists. The first place winner will be the winner of the Cover Night.

Also on the fourth evening, the final for the New Proposals category will take place between the two contenders who qualified in the previous evenings.

The 2 songs/artists will be voted by the public with Televoting, by the Jury of the Press Room, TV and Web and by the Radio Jury, always with a weight of 34, 33 and 33% respectively on the overall result of the vote.

In the final of the fifth evening (Saturday) the 24 competing songs will first be performed again, which will be voted by the 3 Juries once again with a weight of Televoting 34%, Press Room Jury, TV and Web 33 and Radio Jury 33 %.

The result of this vote will be added to that of the votes in the First Evening and to the joint result of the votes in the Second and Third Evening, in order to determine an average percentage of the votes and therefore a ranking of the 24 songs/Artists competing.

The songs/artists in the top 5 positions in the ranking will be communicated without placing order.

Afterwards, the 5 finalist songs will be re-proposed and a new vote will be taken – in the same way for the three Juries. The result of this new vote in the Evening will be added to the overall result of the previous votes (First Evening, Second and Third Evening, Fifth Evening), as resulting in the partial general ranking drawn up in the Evening, in order to determine a new average percentage of the votes referring to the 5 songs/Artists and therefore a final ranking of the same 5 songs/Artists, so as to crown the winner of the 75th edition of the Italian Song Festival.

THE SLOGAN
