The interview
Is Sanremo the point of arrival or just a stop?
Sanremo is the icing, but underneath there is a great cake. A complete project that will unfold in the coming months. In Sanremo this year I want to amaze myself first of all and bring music to a higher level, inspired by the great rock stars of the sixties.
You spent a lot of time abroad in Los Angeles. How did you influence your artistic path?
I have been away for a long time and I think I found a clearer identity, I understood where I want to go and what I like. This is also reflected in my music: I am no longer a boy, and the sound reflects what I am today.
It is easier to steal from reality rather than inventing something and my songs are born from my story.
What are your influences for this project?
Seventy, eighty, ninety. The songs I listened to as a child when I went to the beach with my parents. There is always something nostalgic in my way of writing.
Is there a new album coming?
Yes, it will be released before the summer and contains what is today's Lauro and is inspired by the great Italian songwriters. It is since 2021 that I have not released an album and I have wanted to work a lot on music in recent years.
Will there be a tribute in Rome in the evening evening together with Elodie?
Yes, it's something I had thought for for years. My performance is a tribute to my city, to the poetic drama of those who lived in the suburbs of a great metropolis.
I had been wanting to sing with her for some time. I chose Gradually by Rino Gaetano, a piece that was the symbol of my adolescence. Elodie instead proposed Crazy city by Loredana Bertè.
In addition to the Ariston stage, do you have other spaces in mind?
The young unconscious project will develop in Sanremo also through a special space, RM Confidential. An physical location in Sanremo, an open space where I will host emerging young people, singers and also deal with various social issues. And in the evening, whoever wants, will also be able to go to make a drink in the company.
Your aesthetic is always treated in detail. How did you work on this aspect?
This is why Sanremo collaborates with Dolce & Gabbana. Dolce is a tailor son of tailors, cuts your clothes on you with an elegance of other times. I spent whole nights to reflect with them on a thousand creative ideas. What I carry on stage reflects me 100%.
Your vision of art?
I consider myself more a craftsman. Talking about art seems too high, almost presumptuous. I prefer to think that mine is a work of thought. Carmelo well said that art should not be reassuring, must move something.
How do you live success and competition?
I don't feel much competition and in the end I don't care. I have always positioned myself at the bottom but my songs have always gone out and arrived.
What will happen after Sanremo?
After the festival, I will deliver the album and then I will focus completely on the live.
The tour
Achille Lauro doubles the Circus Maximus and announces the second date of 1 July. A special show in the monumental musical temple of the summer season of the capital where all its new musical world will be presented to the public, contained in the seventh album in the next release.
