ROD STEWARD and JOOLS HOLLAND release their album “Swing Fever”

Music news

“Swing Fever” is released, the new album by Sir Rod Stewart and Jools Holland with his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra.

The album is a 13-track homage to the timeless songs of the big band years, rekindled by two world music superstars.
For the first time, Britain’s new partners in swing have come together to share their unrivaled talent in a tribute to unforgettable songs such as ‘Ain’t Misbehavin”, ‘Almost Like Being In Love’ ‘Pennies From Heaven’ and ‘Lullaby Of Broadway’ ”.

“Swing Fever” is the realization of conversations between Rod and Jools that began in the pandemic years and Rod’s dream of making an album of songs that were, in many ways, the rock ‘n’ roll of their time. Sitting together, Jools talks

I was packing to leave for the Christmas holidays and you called me. We had never talked for long before.

I thought ‘I love Rod, how exciting’ and you said ‘I want to make a record’. I was a fan of Rod forever but it was with the old music that we realized we liked a lot of the same things.”

Over the course of a dozen sessions, the intimacy of a recording studio combined with the enduring brilliance of the songbook to create a sound that is infectious and irresistible – and it sounds live because it did.

Jools sums up the spontaneous charm of Swing Fever thus:

The effect this music has on me and every time I play it where there are people, is that they want to move.

Music is an expression of many different things, and joy is a big part of what it does. You can hear the joy in this music, and it’s unashamed joy, too.”
