Rich Homie Quan Dies at Age 34

RHQ died Thursday at his home in Atlanta. He was 34 years old and the cause of death is believed to be a drug overdose, although that remains unconfirmed at this time.

Born in Atlanta under the name Dequantes Lamar, RHQ burst onto the scene in 2013 with “Type of Way” followed by the tracks “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” and “Ride Out.”

Rich Homie Quan later joined Young Thug on the Cash Money Records project “Rich Gang” and has collaborated frequently with 2 Chainz and Jacquees. He was also recently featured on Travis Scott’s song “Mamacita” and has also collaborated with Gucci Mane.

He released his first and only album in 2018, Rich as in Spirit.

Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan have had a tough time in recent years over their roles in a factional war within one of Atlanta's major gangs, the Bloods. In 2014, Rich Homie Quan's father was involved in the feud and was shot by a rival gang member while he was in a store, but he survived.
