REVIEW: MAHMOOD – “In other people’s beds”

Music news

Mahmood has raised the bar. He had immediately felt it with Love cocktaildisjointed, strange, experimental piece, but the definitive change of gear came with Gold suit, the bomb from Sanremo, which projected him into another championship: the international championship.

What immediately resonates with “In the beds of others” are the international sounds and atmospheres. Afro-beat, contemporary urban, baile funk, electronica and pop is Mahmood’s whole world. There is his talent, his desire for experimentation, his intimacy and introspectiveness.

Then the tracks. You can feel all of Alessandro’s trips abroad, his influences, the touch of the excellent producers used (from Dardust to Michelangelo, from d.whale to Drast and Golden Years, from Madfingerz and Katoo to Lvnar, LUCASV, BGRZ and Francesco Fugazza).

I listen to it again and wait for three missing tracks. She had spoiled that there would be tracks with feat. international excellence. Probably a shot in the arm for the release of the physical format and above all for the start of his European tour.

From a lyrical point of view, “In the beds of others” tells the story of Mahmood’s universe made up of emotions, sex, love, relationships with places, indeed bed stories.
A microcosm made of sheets and pillows becomes a setting for life, the metaphor of a home in which you can take refuge, a safe place to which you know you can always return.

The beds, the beds of others are the conceptual center of his world. Beds lived with friends, with girlfriends, with lovers. alone.
Beds to cry, to reflect, to self-analyse, to betray, to cuddle, to love.

Among the songs, many potential singles, starting from the title track, a perfect synthesis of the album which blends in rhythm with the following one All against all, a soulful piece with super pop sounds where Michelangelo returns in the production, Michelangelo also producing the intense one Paradise a sort of evolution of Chills made with a spectacular Chiello and the rap certainty of Tedua.

Among the Italian collaborations also the one with Capo Plaza who puts his singing in the bars of Afrobeat di Snow on Jordans.

Then there are the Brazilian rhythms of the intro where Slim Soledad appears, there is Bakugo, a piece with an electronic feel and Shooting starintimate conclusion of the album.

Mahmood flies high. He is mature and ready to jump and dance in the king side of international pop!
