Review: GREEN DAY – “Saviors”

Music news

In their career spanning over thirty years, Green Day have always done what they know how to do best and they also did this in “Saviors”.

A record that sees Billie Joe Armstrong and his band’s band back on track in a big way and create a record that, after the experimental and uncertain episode of “Father of All Motherfuckers”, finally sounds 100% power pop.

Their traditional mixture is once again made up of highly political songs and denunciations against the thousand contradictions of America, perfect ballads and also reminiscences of the vigor of the band’s distant past.

Forty-six minutes for sixteen songs of energy, passion, protest and rebellion.
The initial part is more explosive, energetic and tight, tight, then in the central part the ardor subsides and the ballads come out but in their style, always power and always Green Day-style.
The ending alternates acceleration and melody. It all ends with Fancy Sauce the perfect synthesis of Green Day’s 2024 soul.

If you like the genre it’s a great album, one of Green Day’s best in my opinion, if you don’t like power pop after the second third song you’ll change album…

One of the untouched characteristics of the Californian trio that in all these years has made them an enduring band and above all a beloved band is their sense of reality and humanity.
As they grow older and wiser, they become sharper, brighter and more essential but in the end they are still the same as they were thirty years ago!
