“Can't Rush Greatness” is the long -awaited official debut of Central Cee. An album full of expectations that represents not only a disc but a manifesto of the UK UK scene.
The West London rapper presents himself with a security that leaves no doubt about his position at the top of the British rap scene and, by now, worldwide.
The phrase that gives the title to the disc – a mantra that repeats from 2020 – turns here into a declaration of identity:
The size does not improvise, but is built with patience and determination.
The path to this album was paved by a continuous strip of successes that led him to be respected and estimated also in America. A somewhat rare case in the rap united universe of overseas.
No one else in London went to Hollywood ”, it is overcome on CRG
Central EEC does not only emerge, but dominates, as the US featuring in “Can'T Rush Greatness” demonstrate, which exceed British in number.
The album stands out for a refined production that avoids the shortcuts of pop, preferring intriguing sound details: from the samples of Ne-Yo and Wu-Tang Clan, to the Souls Soul '70s, to the surprising rhythmic variation of songs such as Walk in Wardrobe, Where the beat suddenly turns, amplifying the tension. At the same time, songs like Gatawith acoustic guitars and the vocal contribution of the Puerto Rican Young Miko, demonstrate Central EEC's ability to think globally, winking at the Reggaeton and the vast Latin American market.
But what makes “Can't Rush Greatness” a really important album for the scene, in addition to that of confirming its technical thickness, is the honesty of Central EEC.
At the center of the album there is the contrast between life before and after fame, explored with a personal and never banal style. Where other rappers limit themselves to flaunting success, Cench observes him with a critical look, alternating moments of absolute security with more intimate reflections. In Limitless He describes his new life as a film from which he cannot get out: “I'm living in a movie but I can't press pauses”. In the top freestyle he goes from the certainty of a next number one in the standings (“I'm get a no 1 album, easy”) to anxiety that everything can vanish:
I'm one stop and search Away from the block. “
His story of success is imbued with contradictions. On the one hand, we find the luxurious comforts and collaborations with brands such as Nike and PSG; on the other, the difficulty of adapting to this new reality emerges. On several occasions, CENCH wonders if you really deserve what he has achieved or if the price of success is too high, especially when he has to even pay the funeral of his peers.
If there is a clear thing, it is that this album will not slow down its ascent. As he himself says, “You Can't Rush Greatness” – And Can't Rush Greatness is here to remind you.
