Review: CAPO PLAZA – “Wounds (Deluxe Edition)”

Reviews

Capo Plaza returns to the recording scene with the Deluxe Edition of his latest album “Wounds.”

An operation which, in addition to the tracks already published, enriches the project with six new songs, including the launch single Hermès bags and two notable collaborations: New beginning with Shiva and Born Bastards with Tony Effe.

An addition designed to keep interest alive in the original album, released only a few months ago, and to intercept the Christmas period, a favorable moment for sales.

From an artistic point of view, however, this new edition does not offer a great leap forward.

The unreleased songs fit seamlessly into the rapper's already consolidated aesthetic: refined productions, direct lyrics and urban atmospheres. However, the spark capable of distinguishing the new material from what has already been proposed is missing. The risk, common to many Deluxe Editions, is that it all seems like a “reheated soup”, more of a marketing operation than a decisive step in the artist's evolution.

That said, there is no denying Capo Plaza's effectiveness in reaffirming its status within the Italian urban scene. With 73 Platinum and 36 Gold records to his credit, the rapper demonstrates rare solidity, confirming a winning formula and a well-defined stylistic identity. Even in this expansion, Wounds remains faithful to the sound and themes that made Capo Plaza one of the reference figures of the genre.

The Deluxe Edition of Wounds it neither adds nor detracts from the overall value of the work. For those who loved the original album, it's an opportunity to explore some more nuances, while for those who were expecting a turning point, it might seem like a missed opportunity.

A confirmation, rather than a new beginning.
