Until now, that honor belongs to Adele, who won 4 statuettes in 2016 out of the 5 nominations she was up for. The record could go to one of the best-rated emerging artists that the British industry has generated in recent years.
“RAYE, who broke the BRIT record for the most nominations by a single artist in a year, with an incredible 7 nominations this year in categories including Artist of the Year and Mastercard Album of the Year, received the award for This year’s songwriter. This prestigious award, introduced in 2022, celebrates exceptional talent in songwriting and was decided by a select panel of expert judges,” the Brit organization explains.
“I feel very honored and amazed, honestly, to receive this prestigious award for Songwriter of the Year, it is my first BRIT award and I will treasure this trophy very much. I am very grateful to be recognized as a composer, as this is a craft that I am passionate about and I have been since I began my career as a musician, and I am very grateful to those who voted for me to receive this award,” Raye confessed on the awards website.
This year’s BRITs are shaping up to be another exciting and entertaining night celebrating the great and good of British and international music, with a stellar line-up of local and global talent set to take to the BRITs stage to perform; fans will be able to see Becky Hill X Chase & Status, Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding, Dua Lipa, Jungle, Kylie Minogue, who will be honored as BRITs Global Icon, RAYE, Rema and Tate McRae.
