RAYE after the record at the BRIT AWARDS arrives in concert in Italy (info and tickets)

Music news

Raye, after having made history at the Brit Awards, winning six of the seven awards for which she was nominated, will arrive in concert in Italy for the first time on 14 July on the occasion of the 2024 edition of Umbria Jazz.

Already last January Raye had broken the record for the most nominations obtained by a single artist in a year, having obtained seven nominations.
The Brit Awards ceremony was unmistakably this 26-year-old graduate of the BRIT School in south London’s night. After being announced as the winner of the Songwriter of the Year award, Raye went on to win five more awards, bringing her total to six.

Her wins for “Mastercard Album of the Year”, “Best New Artist”, “Artist of the Year”, “Song of the Year with Mastercard” – with Escapism – and “R&B Act” put Raye at the top of the BRITs charts for the most wins in a single night, surpassing the previous record of four, held by Harry Styles (2023), Adele (2016) and Blur (1995).

Raye also performed a triumphant medley – featuring ‘Ice Cream Man’, ‘Prada’ & ‘Escapism’

Raye, visibly emotional, commented as follows:

The artist I was three years ago would not believe I’m in control – I’m my own boss.”

THE NEW SINGLE

The single “Worth It” will be available on all radios from March 8th.

THE RAYE STORY

Among the most extraordinary and influential musical talents in the United Kingdom, Raye, with over 3 billion total streams, more than 411 million views on YouTube and exceeding 34 million monthly listeners on Spotify, before reaching these mind-boggling numbers, was known as the author of songs recorded by stars such as Charli XCX, Rita Ora, Jax Jones, Little Mix, John Legend, Ellie Goulding, David Guetta and Beyoncé, thus quickly becoming one of the most sought after pens by world stars.

Under contract with the record company at the time, Polydor, in 2021 he decided to entrust his suffering and discomfort towards the music industry to social media, more precisely through a tweet, declaring: “I have been on a 4 ALBUM RECORD DEAL since 2014!!! And haven’t been allowed to put out one album. ALL I CARE ABOUT is the music. Im sick of being slept on and I’m sick of being in pain about it this is not business to me this so personal”.

Just two years after sharing that tweet Raye found herself at the top of the world charts with astonishing numbers: “My 21st Century Blues” has totaled over 1.18 billion streams and the hit “Escapism” (feat. 070 Shake), nominated at the Brit, it went PLATINUM in over twelve countries including the United Kingdom, America, Australia, Sweden and New Zealand, it was CERTIFIED GOLD in Italy, France and Germany, it was Top 5 throughout Europe and entered the charts US Billboard Hot 100.

The 13 songs – balanced between house, pop, blues and dancehall – that make up “My 21st Century Blues” are a true triumphant act of independence and tell us in an extraordinary way a part of his life: from sexual abuse to dysmorphophobia body, from the topic of addictions to his tormented experiences in the music industry.

Creating this music empowered me to face my demons. I called a lot of these people up and was like ‘you did this, and you did that – remember this? You owe me an apology and you’re never going to be able to treat another woman like that again’. On the album I’m not going to be naming names, but I will be telling these stories. I will be explicitly fucking saying it.”
