When you go to a concert again, I assure you that for the first time you will appreciate every detail of the place – beyond the musical, of course. And we rarely stop to think that to achieve a show You have to pay attention to several details that make this a unique experience. Production Management and Venue Manager It is a position that deserves great recognition for its work and dedication and of course, we must congratulate the work of a talented woman such as Janis Varella.

For three years now, Janis has been behind the operation of the Indie Rocks Forum! reviewing what is required before and after an event; the issue of calls, access, attention to the public during the shows and sometimes, personalized attention to talent. However, the list of activities is quite extensive and this is always achieved thanks to a great work team.

As in any job and position, there are always big challenges that one can face, on this occasion, Janis Varella He identifies that there are certain factors that he has had to perfect throughout this time, one of them, dealing with people.

Dealing with people can become very complicated due to various situations. Customer service in any area has its challenges which I have gradually learned to manage. This has led me to develop patience and a lot of tolerance, always trying to provide top-quality and very respectful human attention, regardless of the situation I face.”

Likewise, he has been in charge of organizing large teams in a short time and keeping them in tune to satisfactorily carry out their tasks.

“When working with so many staff this can be difficult, however, we have managed to find harmony and coordination in our work dynamics where each person, beyond being clear about their tasks, is aware of the impact of their participation.”

Janis He is a person with a lot of character and determination; qualities that have allowed him to move in the best direction. She is currently in a place and in a comfortable position where they value her work as a person and her value as a woman.

My character has favored me in this area to direct and interact, however, that has not always exempted me from receiving criticism, many of which I have taken as an opportunity for personal growth (…) It is true that there are social dynamics in which women are little recognized and present more obstacles. Fortunately within my workspace this has changed and is becoming less frequent, however these cases suddenly occur. The best way to handle this situation is to focus on my work, not giving in to criticism or lack of acceptance, trying not to take things personally and focusing on my work performance.”

After dedicating many hours to his hard work, Janis Varella find moments to share with your little son; This is where she emphasizes how complex a working mother usually is.

“It has been complicated, since being a deeply sexist society, the obstacles we face in our daily lives affect all areas of our lives, especially in the part of motherhood. However, I consider myself lucky, because within my work team I have found a support network that has allowed me to carry out my motherhood in a harmonious way, especially in these moments when I went through a great personal loss, which was the death of my father. “who was a pillar in both my life and that of my son.”

Currently, she highlights that she is constantly searching for a balance that allows her to perform both her work duties, self-care and, of course, motherhood, without sacrificing time with her family. The reality is that sometimes jobs tend to require a lot of time and effort, however you always end up learning from them.

I have always characterized myself as a person with great ease in establishing relationships, so meeting new people has enriched not only my work but also my personal path, adding to this the experiences within the forum, the events, the concerts, the bazaars, not only as As an organizer but not as a spectator, they have filled me with motivation and have made me more involved in a medium that I love.”

After working with Indie Rocks Forum!, Hypnosis and Pitchfork CDMX, Janis Varella confirms that he would like to expand his horizons in more national and international events to continue learning from people and their different ways of working.
