Pharrell Williams brings back a new collaboration with Miley Cyrus

Music news

The song, known to fans as “ Doctor », would have been created for the album Bangerz by Miley Cyrus in 2013.

For every album of music released by coveted pop producers, countless other recordings are left behind in the editing room: verses that never develop into anything more, original demos that completely transform throughout the process of creation… Beyond occasional leaks on the Internet, most of these songs never leave the hard drive on which they were stored. But when Pharrell Williams took over as CEO of Louis Vuitton, he took his files with him and waited for the perfect moment to resurface a never-before-seen collaboration with Miley Cyrus.

On Tuesday, during a live broadcast of the presentation of the fall-winter 2024 men’s collection, the singer’s voice rang out while the models moved on a labyrinthine runway at the Jardin d’Acclimatation in Paris. The song, known to fans as “ Doctor “, first surfaced online in December 2017. It was reportedly created over a decade ago during the recording sessions for Cyrus’ fourth studio album, Bangerzreleased in 2013.

The lyrics of the first verse match what fans may have known from the less polished version that leaked, but the version that was released was rewritten in places and appears to have been completely re-recorded.

Four songs from Bangerz, including a few bonus tracks, feature writing and/or production credits from Williams. The duo hasn’t released music together since Cyrus’ vocals appeared on ” Come Get It Bae » from the solo album GIRL from the producer in 2014.

Last year, a few months after the release of Cyrus’ latest album, Endless Summer Vacation, an album full of previously unreleased material has surfaced on Spotify and Apple Music under the name Clara Pierce. Finally withdrawn, the album entitled Down With Me was comprised of a dozen high-quality leaks from Cyrus’ previous albums, including Bangerz, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petzand the 2019 EP She is Coming.
