Pearl Jam announces new album and releases lead single

The American band Pearl Jam has announced the release of a new studio album. What will be the band’s twelfth album will be released on April 19, 2024 via Monkeywrench Records.

The new work, titled Dark Matterwas recorded at Shangri-La Studios in Malibu under the supervision of the Grammy Award-winning American producer Andrew Wattwho has previously worked with artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Miley Cyrus or Blink 182, among many more.

In addition to this long-awaited announcement, the group has released the first self-titled single from the album.

The band has already hinted at what fans can expect from the new album. “We have a lot of songs recorded”declared the guitarist Mike McCready in an interview with Classic Rock. “We worked with Andrew Watt, who is a younger type of pop producer, but he’s actually a rock guy at heart; I think we are his favorite band. When we were in the studio with him last year, he really kicked our butts, got us focused and played, song after song.”.

McCready continued: “There is the melody and energy of the first albums. Andrew pushed us to play as hard, melodic and thoughtful as we have in a long time. I feel like Matt Cameron’s drumming has elements of what he did in Soundgarden.”.

Pearl Jam’s last release was their album Gigatonpublished in 2020, a work with which the group led by Eddie Vedder It put an end to seven years of recording silence. Gigaton It was the group’s first work since Lightning Boltwhich was released on October 15, 2013 as the tenth album by the iconic American rock band that emerged from the legendary scene grunge of Seattle in the early 90s.

Pearl Jam, who were already protagonists of this festival in 2018, will be one of the groups that will perform at the July 11 in it Mad Cool 2024. The festival, which will be held again at the Iberdrola Music venue, in the Madrid district of Villaverde, will take place from July 10 to 13.
