The singer paid tribute to Zizi Jeanmaire and won the hearts of the French during an incredible live performance this Friday, July 26, for the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Lady Gaga straight out of a music hall… Near the Seine. The singer impressed audiences around the world by covering the legendary French song “Mon truc en plumes” by Zizi Jenmaire at the very beginning of the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The superstar, dressed in a Dior bustier, respected the codes of cabaret by dancing and playing with pink feathers. Accompanied by a troupe of dancers and musicians, Lady Gaga sang the song released in 1961 in perfect French.

In commentary on the ceremony, broadcast on France 2, Daphné Bürki, who followed all the preparations for the show, explained that Lady Gaga wanted to pay tribute to the ballerina Zizi Jeanmaire, with whom she found many things in common.

The artist reportedly rehearsed this grandiose painting for two months and was not afraid to learn all the difficult words of the title in French.

I am very grateful to have been invited to open the Paris 2024 Olympic Games this year.revealed the American star on her Instagram account a few minutes after her performance. I am also very honoured to have been invited by the Olympic Games committee to sing such a special French song, a song that pays tribute to the French people and their extraordinary history in art, music and theatre.”

Very involved and determined, Lady Gaga wanted to make the French proud. So she didn't hesitate to work hard as she explains on her social networks: “I trained tirelessly to learn a joyful French dance, while respecting old traditions. I bet you didn't suspect that I could dance at a French 60s party on the docks when I started my career..”
