Paramore, ambassador for Record Store Day 2024

Music news

Paramore, which has recently become independent, will be the ambassador group for Disquaire Day this year.

Paramore has worried fans by canceling shows and shutting down its website, but fear not: the band announced Saturday that they’re still together and are this year’s Record Store Day ambassador.

“ After a long career in the music industry, we have decided to announce that… we will continue to have a long career in the music industry (sorry for the inconvenience) ” Paramore said in a statement.

“ Our first task as a freshly independent Paramore is to shine a spotlight on independent record stores: a vital part of our journey from music-obsessed school friends to professional music makers. That being said, we are very honored to be your ambassadors for Record Store Day 2024. The timing is ideal. »

Paramore’s 20-year contract with Atlantic Records ended in 2023 with This Is Why, who won a historic Grammy last week as the first female-led group to win best rock album. (Paramore did not attend the ceremony, however).

“ The discovery of music has always been romantic. Independent record stores are among the only spaces that offer us a tangible and tactile experience of discovering musicadded Paramore. In a world that seems more disconnected and hostile than ever, it’s important to stay in touch (literally) with what inspires us, empowers us, or simply brings us joy. Fortunately, for all our sakes, there still exists, amidst the chaos, the purity and radical simplicity of a great record store. »

This year, Record Store Day will take place on April 20. Previous ambassadors include Taylor Swift, St. Vincent, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Jack White and Jason Isbell & Amanda Shires. As part of their duties, ambassadors generally offer an exclusive outing for the occasion; It’s not yet clear what Paramore has in store, or if this is the first release of their ” new era » as an independent group.
