PAOLO BENVEGNÙ is dead. He was 59 years old

Music news

Now comes one of those pieces of news that you would never want to write… It is with great sorrow that family, friends and collaborators announce the untimely death of Paolo Benvegnù.

Goodbye to Paolo Benvegnù: the world of Italian music loses one of its most poetic and intense voices. Paolo Benvegnù died prematurely at the age of 59, leaving a deep void among those who loved him as a partner, father, songwriter and musician.

The news of his passing was spread by family, friends and collaborators.

Here is the press release announcing his premature death.

Companion, father, songwriter and musician loved by anyone who was lucky enough to meet him on their path, Paolo Benvegnù passed away today at the age of 59.

Paolo was a man capable of infusing beauty and poetry into everything he did as demonstrated by his long career and the songs he published in recent years.

With a career that began in the 90s as the frontman of Scisma and continued with a brilliant career as a soloist, Benvegnù has been able to conquer the public and critics with his music imbued with emotional depth and lyricism.

THE TENCO PRIZE

Only a few months ago, the singer-songwriter had obtained the prestigious Tenco 2024 license plate for his album “It's useless to talk about love”, recognized as “Best Album Overall”.

An achievement that further underlined his ability to explore the themes of love, fragility and existence with unique sensitivity.

Chilling and senseless news.
Paolo was an artist of great value and a pure person. Just last October he collected his first Targa Tenco, the most coveted one, for record of the year.
He was one of the most beloved Italian singer-songwriters, a point of reference for the songwriting of the last thirty years, the human one, the authentic one.

THE LAST ALBUM

Also this year, Benvegnù released “PICCOLI FRAGILISSIMI FILM – RELOADED”, a new version of the album that marked his solo debut in 2004 and which celebrated the twentieth anniversary of that iconic record.

APPEARANCE ON TV

His last public appearance dates back to yesterday evening, when he was the protagonist of an episode of the program “Via dei matti n.0”, where he shared his music and his words, giving the public further testimony to his extraordinary art .
