Revolutionary Calm is the title of the new song by Ornella Vanoni with Samuele Bersani (out Friday 17 November for BMG).
Following in the wake of the Brazilian sounds of Calma, an original song by Marisa Monte, Calma Rivoluzionaria was entirely rewritten by Samuele Bersani and produced by the same artist with Pietro Cantarelli, giving a completely new and current version. The song embodies the musical soul of Ornella Vanoni and her voice intertwines in an engaging way with that of Samuele.
Last winter I came across the music of Marisa Monte, a Brazilian artist who wrote a wonderful song called “Calma” and which I fell in love with. So I shared music with Samuele Bersani, a dear friend of mine, a person I love very much and respect very much. On the music of “Calma”, Samuele has rewritten a very different and current text, almost “perfect” for this difficult historical moment” – says Ornella Vanoni.
The result of a renewed exceptional collaboration, Calma Rivoluzionaria describes and encloses already in the oxymoron of the title the originality and artistic vein of the two artists and of the entire piece, where two apparently irreconcilable terms have been deliberately combined to produce an unexpected short circuit which gives a surprising “energy of meaning” to everything.
Never as in this angry present is prudence necessary with respect to primordial instinct” – states Bersani.
THE COUPLE
The two artists, not new to these mixes, had already worked together in Isola, a revisitation of Tango, a piece written by the Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto in the mid-90s, taken up and covered with new sounds and original words by Samuele and given to the voice perfect by Ornella.
THE NEW RECORD
The song anticipates CALMA RIVOLUZIONARIA LIVE 2023, the new recording project by Ornella Vanoni, out from Friday 1 December.
Two years after the last album, CALMA RIVOLUZIONARIA LIVE 2023 is an exciting musical journey through some of the great successes of one of the most important interpreters of Italian pop music – recorded live during the theater tour Le donne e la musica Tour and accompanied by interludes taken from the theatrical writing Le donne e la musica – embellished by the two unpublished Calma Rivoluzionaria with Samuele Bersani and Camminando of which Pietro Cantarelli is the author and composer.
CALMA RIVOLUZIONARIA LIVE 2023 is available in 2 exclusive formats: a vinyl LP with the songs that have marked the artist’s career and life recorded in a special live version, accompanied by a 45 rpm vinyl with the unreleased Calma Rivoluzionaria with Samuele Bersani on LATO A and the unreleased Camminando on LATO B. The second special format is an exclusive CD composed of 25 tracks: the unreleased Calma Rivoluzionaria with Samuele Bersani and Camminando, the moments of entertainment with the public and the great classics of the artist’s career , as well as the bonus track Calma Rivoluzionaria in the version sung only by Ornella Vanoni. Ornella Vanoni’s new recording project will also be available for download.
THE APPOINTMENTS
The surprises don’t end here: Ornella today also announces two special events to present the new album CALMA RIVOLUZIONARIA LIVE 2023, meeting fans on Friday 1 December in MILAN at the Mondadori in Piazza del Duomo (6.00 pm) and Tuesday 5 December in ROME at the Mondadori in Via Tuscolana, 771/771A, (6.00 pm).
