Olivia Rodrigo and Noah Kahan swap songs for Record Store Day

Music news

Olivia Rodrigo and Noah Kahan each covered one of the other’s songs on a BBC show and the recordings will be released for Record Store Day.

Record Store Day 2024 will take place this year on Saturday April 20. Olivia Rodrigo and Noah Kahan are planning the release of a 45 rpm vinyl containing their covers of their respective songs.

In October 2023, Olivia Rodrigo tried her hand at Noah Kahan’s hit “ Stick Season » during a broadcast of the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. His haunted house-themed performance was based on the scariest scenario imaginable: thinking a little too long about the past and everything you had to leave behind.

A few weeks later, Kahan performed the song “ Lacy ” of Guts during his own passage to Live Lounge. The song, which began as a poem in a class Rodrigo took at the University of Southern California, sees her playing with ideas of envy and inferiority.

The song is so beautiful and it highlights what I love so much about Olivia’s lyricism. It is very dynamic and makes you feel an emotion that we have all already experiencedMr. Kahan told BBC Newsbeat about the performance, adding: “ I hoped she wouldn’t see it, in case it was bad. She will eventually find out. I hope she likes it, I was very honored and very inspired by her. »
