Discover “Now and Then”, a previously unfinished Beatles song, is now available after a technological leap.
John Lennon and George Harrison come back to life for a piece by The Beatles, which had remained unfinished. Entitled “Now And Then”, it is now available via the player below:
“ Paul arranged it completelyexplains Giles Martin, son of George Martin, historic producer of the Fab Four. But when Paul gave it to me, he had changed the structure of the song and written it, he did the guitar solo and pretty much all the vocals and guitars, and I just added a few extra elements with him. » To top it all off, Paul and Giles added backing vocals from three Beatles classics. “ If there were backing vocals, it was important that all the Beatles participated. The song therefore takes up small elements of “ Eleanor Rigby “, ” Here, There and Everywhere » and a bit of “ Because “. »
Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison (then still alive) began working on this title in 1995 with the aim of including it in an Anthology, but the title remained unfinished. It was in fact impossible to work on John Lennon’s recording. However, in 2022, thanks to software developed by Peter Jackson and his team and used in the production of the Get Back documentary series, John Lennon’s voice was able to be separated from the piano that accompanied him in the original demo. The then unpublished piece was thus able to be finalized.
“Now And Then” will be included in the anniversary reissue of the best of red and blue, which celebrates 50 years of their release in 2023. Before its release, scheduled for November 10, this edition is available for pre-order.
