This Friday, February 28, Damiano David unveils a striking clip in a Roman prison for his new single “Next Summer”, a setting that perfectly illustrates the deep meaning of his song.
Damiano David is once again surprising with a clip that is a real short film. For the release of his third single, “Next Summer”,, Who succeeds his acoustic recovery from Miley Cyrus, but also to his titles “Silverlines” and “Born with a Broken Heart“”published last fall, the singer of Måneskin slips into the shoes of a balafre prisoner. “Frankly, I am very happy. This is the first song I wrote for this album, the first day of the session”he told his fans.
What is “Next Summer” talking about?
In a fictitious story, the artist is imprisoned in a Rome prison in the 1970s. “Each man is his own prison guard”he said from the first seconds of the clip. Between excavations, common showers, parlor and intensive sporting sessions, he undergoes a harsh and ruthless life. Helpless behind bars, he sees the love of his life scrolling, watching her age without being able to join her. Fans will also be able to discover a older version of Damiano at the end of the clip, played by his own father Daniele David.
“When we don't have the strength to face change, the mind can become a prison. We find ourselves stuck, motionless, in a cage made of fears, judgments and insecurity ”he explains on his social networks. He continues by revealing the deep symbolism of his song: “The fear of not being up to the task, not to succeed, not to meet the expectations of others takes us. Facing your own vulnerability is an act of courage. Starting to accept who we are is the first breath of fresh air. ”
Favorite for Dove Cameron
On the side of the fans, the new artistic proposals of the Italian rocker are unanimous, just like with his girlfriend Dove Cameron. “This new song is one of my favorites of all time”she said. “One of my favorite clips that I have never seen too. I couldn't be more proud”she added.
Damiano David will perform solo at the Vieilles Charrues this summer and the Accor Arena in Paris on September 27. As for the release of his first album, the mystery remains, but should soon be lifted.
