The success of a song is no longer measured by physical sales but by streams and, without a doubt, Spotify remains the reference point for many. The platform has just announced that an artist has broken the tiebreaker for the greatest number of songs that exceed 1 billion views and joins the Olympus of billionaires along with J Balvin who is the artist with the most videos that have overcome that barrier.

Many might think that artists like Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Karol G either Beyonce They could be in contention for that record, but nothing could be further from the truth. Neither Latin nor North American, the two artists who held the record were The Weeknd and drakeboth Canadians.

The two boasted the achievement of having a total of 17 songs that had managed to exceed that number of streams, but now, The Weenkd has prevailed. The theme of his fourth studio album, After Hourshas become his eighteenth billion-dollar song.

In that same album there is Blinding Lights which is still the most played song on Spotify with almost 4.5 billion views.
