In parallel, a digital version Extended Deluxe will be published, with some exclusive tracks.

After the Residency in Las Vegas, The Celebration of Mimi, which ended in February, the singer is expected for a new world tour. Meanwhile, this re -edition celebrates not only music, but also a decisive moment of his artistic and personal emancipation.

History

Originally published on April 12, 2005 for Island/Def Jam Records, “The Emancipation of Mimi” sees Mariah collaborating with the most appreciated and coveted talents of the time, including Jermaine Dupri, Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, Twista, Nelly, Pharrell Williams and Neptunes, and James “Big Jim” Wright. Acclaimed by fans and critics, the project that reported it on the great international scene is considered.

“The Emancipation of Mimi” was an overwhelming triumph both on a personal and professional level, representing Mariah's reconquest of his throne as a undisputed queen of pop and R&B. From the bass rhythmic and the sparkling voice of the opening song “It's like that” to the sinuous mid-tempo of “Shake it off”, to the timeless romantic ballad “We Belong Together” (remained at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for a good 14 weeks, the longest period of any song of the 2000s, was subsequently declared by the magazine “Song of the decade”). “The Emancipation of Mimi” reveals a production that still sounds fresh today as it was in 2005.

Reaching the first place in the standings with over 400,000 copies sold in the first week of release, “The Emancipation of Mimi” was Mariah's first album, after 1997 “Butterfly”, to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 ranking, becoming the most sold album in 2005 in the United States with almost 5 million physical copies. Worldwide, it was the second best -selling album of the year and reached the top 5 in Canada, Denmark, France and Japan. The Ultra Platinum Edition, published in November 2005 with several new songs, including “Don't Forget About Us”, would have kept the album in the Top 5 for many months and would have given Mariah his seventeenth Hit #1, allowing her to reach the primacy with Elvis Presley for the largest number of solo singles at the top of the ranking (a record that would later pass). Overall, the two albums would have earned ten nominations to the Grammy Award: eight in 2006 for the original version and two in 2007 for the Ultra Platinum Edition. In 2006, Mariah won the Best Contemporary R&B Album, Best R&B Song and Best Female Vocal Performance prizes with the song “We Belong Together”.

To date, The Emancipation of Mimi has sold over 15 million copies all over the world, becoming the best -selling album of Mariah's career.
