Madonna reveals the first words she said after a brush with death

At a recent concert, Madonna spoke about her road to recovery after a bacterial infection left her in an induced coma last year.

Madonna took a moment during her concert in Los Angeles to tell fans about her near-death experience that left her in an induced coma for four days.

In June 2023, Madonna was forced to suspend her tour Celebration after being hospitalized for several days in an intensive care unit due to a serious bacterial infection. The pop star eventually recovered and returned to touring a few months later in October.

Madonna looked back on her 40-year career, and the blows and injuries she suffered along the way: “ I have a hip made of titaniumshe joked. The list is long, but nothing can stop me “.

But the ” surprise » from last summer, as Madonna said, was different. “ It’s called a near-death experience, and I’m not kidding, it was pretty scary. Obviously, I didn’t know anything for four days because I was in an induced coma, but when I woke up, the first word I said was “No”. At least that’s what my assistant told me. »

The star then shared her theory on why she woke up to this note: ” I’m pretty sure God said to me, “Do you want to come with us? Do you want to go that way?” And I said, “No!” »

It turned out that one of Madonna’s doctors was also in the audience that night. She thanked him for putting up with “ so many irritating phone calls from me when I was sick this summer and literally couldn’t walk from my bed to the bathroom “. She remembers asking him every day when she would get her energy back, when she would start to feel like herself again, and when she could go on tour. Her doctor’s advice was to go outside and sit in the sun, but even that was difficult.

I know this may sound crazy, but it was hardshe remembers. I didn’t know when I would get my health back. I didn’t know when I could get up again and when I could be myself again… It was a strange thing to no longer feel like I was in control of the situation. And that’s what taught me to let go. »
