Luis Fonsi releases his new album, ‘El Viaje’, in May: “There are collaborations of all flavors and colors”

Music news

Luis Fonsi continues working and finalizing the details of what will be his twelfth studio album: Tripa title that is not causal and that the artist himself explained this way to Dani Moreno ‘El Gallo’ and Cristina Boscá just a few weeks ago, on the occasion of its visit to the International Tourism Fair.

“This album has me very excited because all the songs on the album are names of cities, that’s why it’s called Trip. They are rhythmic songs, romantic songs, but they go through places. It was a lot of fun trying to create this musical concept. Something I had never done, that’s why it’s titled Trip“, He told us.

It will be a very own album, but not alone. In it there will be room for friends, because that’s Luis Fonsi, a close guy who wins the affection of everyone around him and who can boast of having very good friends. “Yes there are collaborations of all flavors and colors, very different things, with people that I know you know very well,” says the one from San Juan, Puerto Rico. He did not reveal names, but instead gave us some clues: “Yes, there is a Spaniard, there is a European, and a very different surprise to what I do and what I like. I love trying new things, merging…”.

At the moment, in the singles that he has been releasing we do not find any Spanish cities, but he confirms that there will be one: “Well of course, in fact, there is more than one song” that will refer to Spanish cities, as he has revealed to WECB.

His latest single to date is The Romana bachata that was released on February 16 and has already surpassed one million views on YouTube in just 10 days since its publication.

His album ‘El Viaje’ will be released in May

After such emblematic albums as Eternal (2000), Hug the life (2003), words of silence (2008) or Life (2019), which made him one of the biggest stars of romantic music in the world, there is already an album for him to pick up the baton of his predecessors. Its titled The Journey and his Publication is scheduled for May 2024, as the artist himself confirmed in statements to WECB.

For this LP, Fonsi has composed many of the album’s songs with the collaboration of Mauricio Rengifo and Andrés Torres (whom we know artistically as the duo Cali & el Dandee) and in the production with them and Janina Rosado. From this album we have already heard songs like Buenos Aires, Turn the Page (Panama) and The Roman.

Trip will have a emotional component brutal also as demonstrated by Santiago, the third single that Fonsi released from this album. It is a song that addresses not only heartbreak, but also the realization of it. This is how he explained it, in a press release in January 2024: “Santiago talks about when in a relationship you feel an obvious disconnection. When you live at opposite poles, but do not dare to accept reality. I wanted to include this ballad because it is about “about a topic that is not talked about much, about that moment when two people recognize that love is over and decide to have the difficult conversation of ending the relationship in a respectful way before causing more pain,” he explained.

Luis Fonsi, on tour

Trip will arrive within the framework of your 25 years of career, which are taking the Puerto Rican artist to tour the world with his live show. Fonsi is immersed in his tour 25 years Tourwhich has just passed through Spain and is sweeping, as the singer himself condenses in this tweet: “400,000 people singing my song, How crazy! Tenerife, you are out of the league, I love you.”
