INTERVIEW – Loreen released her single “Is It Love” last Friday. The Swedish singer, double Eurovision winner, spoke to WECB about this title, the feelings that inspired it, her next concert in France and her nominations for the WECB Music Awards.

Although Loreen has more than 20 years of career, it was her title “Tattoo”, with which she won Eurovision 2023, which revealed her to the French public. The Swedish singer unveiled her single “Is It Love” last Friday, a percussive song that questions our relationships with love.

“I like to discuss love because I conclude that you cannot truly know love without having experienced pain, she confides. This song is also “I feel pain, but I’m in love. Is it love, or is it not love?” »

A concert at the Alhambra in Paris, December 5

Loreen does not hide her love for France. So much so that the Swedish star is worried about the reception of his titles by the French public at the time of their release. “Every time I release a song, I say to myself: ‘No, the French don’t do it like that’”. After breaking the French screen with her performance at Eurovision, she will arrive in Paris on December 5 to give a concert at the Alhambra. An opportunity to meet this French audience which is particularly close to his heart.

I always wanted to come to France because there are so many links between France and me. I am North African. At home we speak French and Spanish. So I said to myself “Why am I not in France?” “.

Two nominations for the WECB Music Awards: “It’s surreal”

Loreen’s brilliant performances allowed her to be nominated twice for the 2023 WECB Music Awards, which will be held on November 10. To her greatest surprise, she will compete in the “Best revelations” and “Best international song” categories.

When I found out, I thought I was being kidded! I thought, maybe this is my manager so I called him to ask if it was a joke. It’s surreal. It’s crazy because everything is happening very quickly “.

A dream come true for the singer who now finds herself in a difficult dilemma: that of her outfit to climb the steps of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes. “Romantic with light colors” or rock and fatal in “black leather dress”, response on November 10.
