Listen to Lana Del Rey cover John Denver

Music news

Lana Del Rey covered the song “ Take Me Home, Country Roads » by John Denver, published in 1971.

At this point in her career, Lana Del Rey could release an entire album of her excellent covers, from “ Doin’ Time » from Sublime to “ Stand By Your Man » by Tammy Wynette, through her brand new interpretation of “ Unchained Melody » by Elvis. Today, she tackles “ Take Me Home, Country Roads » by John Denver.

Del Rey’s take on the 1971 classic is, unsurprisingly, very Americana, with touches of emotion throughout the track.

Last month, Lana Del Rey received five Grammy nominations for her album Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. The album earned nominations for Album of the Year and Best Music Album, while ” A&W » was shortlisted for Song of the Year and Best Alternative Music Performance. Finally, ” Candy Necklace ”, with Jon Batiste, received a nomination in the best pop group or duo performance category.

The singer plans to play a few festivals next year, headlining Barcelona’s Primavera Sound in May (alongside SZA and Pulp), and the Reading and Leeds Festival in the UK in August.
