The legendary career of Kim Gordon continues to expand with each musical project that arises from his creative mind, while continuing to surprise with the diversity of his proposals. Also a visual artist, she has shared the second preview in anticipation of her next studio album as a solo artist –The Collective– in the way of “I’m a Man”. The new single composes an abrasive and frontal challenge to the conventions of masculinity from an eclectic musical expression.

“I’m a Man” continues the proposal that we were initially able to hear in “BYE BYE” – previous promotional single The Collective, both songs have the intention of subverting the conventions of the musical genre by mixing different sound elements. In both tracks, The electronic percussions play with the well-known 808 shapes that build the foundation of multiple expressions within current trap and rap. The presence of Kim Gordon is enough to deconstruct the first notion that the electronic drums suggest, the force of its distorted guitar and the declamation in determining tone of Gordon They give a very good shape for this new musical challenge.

The intense experience that Kim Gordon build on “I’m a Man” It is the result of a creative process led by the producer Justin Raisen –known for projects Lil Yachty, Charli XCX, Yves Tumor and Yeah, yeah, yeah– and the occasional help of Anthony Paul Lopez. The Collective It is the second album of Gordon as a soloist and is the continuation of the album No Home Record 2019. The new album will be available on March 8th through Matador Records.

The proposal of Kim Gordon in the simple “I’m a Man” is accompanied by a video clip directed by Alex Ross Perry. The video stars herself Kim and for his daughter Coco Gordon Moore. The clip presents a reflection on the roles and stereotypes attributed to masculinity and femininity, completing the interpretation of Gordon in “I’m a Man” by assuming the hypothetical posture of a man.
